We have reached the stretch goal of $8,000, and a new challenge has been issued to reach $10,000. When the project hits $10,000, a UNI employee has pledged to give $1,000. Please continue to support the project and help the Panther Pantry raise $11,000 total. The additional funds will help stock and sustain the Panther Pantry when it opens.
The University of Northern Iowa plans to launch the Panther Panty this spring. A generous UNI employee has pledged a $2,000 matching gift that will be fully realized when the project’s goal of $4,000 is met. Give today to help us raise $6,000 to meet the foundational needs of UNI students.
Did you know that food insecurity is an issue for UNI students? A recent survey of UNI students showed:
16 percent of respondents had a low to very low level of food security*
50 percent of minority students who completed the survey had low to very low level of food security*
42 percent of first generation students who responded had low to very low level of food security*
To address this issue on campus, the Panther Pantry will be launched inside Maucker Union with a targeted soft launch of January 19. The pantry will be located in the lower level of Maucker Union, near the computer lab, and will be available to students seven days per week.
If you would like more information or have questions regarding the Panther Pantry, please contact Ashley Adams, Campus Programs Coordinator in the Office of Student Life, at (319) 273-6849 or via e-mail at ashley.adams@uni.edu.
*Low food insecurity means an individual has limited access to quality and variety foods, or occasionally reduce food intake as a result of not having access to food. Very low food insecurity is defined as an individual having multiple reasons why they are unable to access the food they need, resulting in inconsistent eating patterns and reducing the amount of food consumed.
Every dollar helps address the food insecurity of UNI students. Help end hunger on campus!
