Thank you for supporting students in need with a gift to the UNI Student Emergency Fund.
Student Emergency Fund -- Fall 2020
Help meet the $25,000 challenge and keep 100 students on the path to graduation
Diane Berthel, '75, has agreed to match all gifts to the Student Emergency Fund, up to $25,000.
As a first-generation UNI graduate, Diane understands how critical private support is for some students. She also believes in the power of higher education to provide an opportunity for individuals and transform communities.
All gifts to this campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000. With $50,000 we will be able to support 100 students through emergency situations this year.
About the Fund
The Student Emergency Fund provides aid at critical times to UNI students facing emergency situations such as accidents, illness or the need for temporary housing.
About the Need
Last year, 94 students were awarded a total of $45,193. The majority of requests were a result of the COVID-19 pandemic which left many students facing the loss of income and increased travel expenses to return home. Helping 94 students stay on the path to graduation was great, but it left the fund with less than $3,000 to face the needs of this academic year.
