Support UNI School Psychologists

Why support school psychologists?

The need for quality school psychologists has never been more apparent than it is now. School psychologists play a variety of roles, including school-based mental health provider, consultant, and data-based decision maker. Unfortunately, there continues to be a shortage of school psychologists across the state and country. To meet these needs, the school psychology program at UNI prepares students to fill these critical roles to make a difference in the communities they serve.

How will your gift make a difference?

Staying up to date with assessments

As a part of our training to become experts in the field of school psychology, we need up to date assessments. After an assessment company publishes a new version of an assessment, we need to purchase the assessment within one year of the published date because it becomes unethical to use the old assessment after this time. With your donation, we would be able to purchase the new Wechsler Individual Achievement Test - Fourth Edition (WIAT-4) for training use. This assessment is an important part of our training, and keeping our assessments up to date helps us maintain best practices.

Conferences

Regional and national conferences allow us to share new and important information for the field, to learn what other school psychologists are working on in the field, and to provide networking opportunities for our students. Your donations will help cover registration fees for these conferences. The opportunity to experience what is going on outside of Iowa provides our students with an expanded perspective of school psychology and PreK-12 education.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

As a part of our program, our students work directly with licensed school psychologists in school districts across Iowa. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is extremely important for our students to have. With your generous support, we could purchase additional PPE so that our students and the schools they serve are safe in the school environment.
