Art for El Salvador is an organization that uses art in all its forms as means through which to support and uplift impoverished communities in El Salvador. Through the sale and celebration of art in our home communities here in the US, we aim to support projects of development for those suffering from the inequalities of extreme poverty in rural El Salvador.
For the past four years, we have been working to fund the Sarah’s School project, an effort which involved the construction of a 7-9 school and the renovation of a K-6 school in the community of Caserio Mediagua. We reached our fundraising goal for the 7-9 grade school in September and our goal for the renovation project in February. The community members worked extremely hard to complete construction of the school in January, allowing students in the community to continue their education past the 6th grade.
On May 14th through the 21st, a delegation of Art for El Salvador members will be traveling to El Salvador to dedicate the school and spend time with the children and families of the community. During the week we will learn about the history of the country, do house to house visits in the community, paint a mural on the new school, visit other marginalized schools in the area, and most importantly spend a great deal of time getting to know and be with the children. We are all beyond excited to have the opportunity to see Sarah’s School and spend time with the students!
Your donation to this platform will support organization members in paying for this meaningful experience. For $35, you can fund one night at the Pastoral House and a day’s meals for a delegate. All donations are greatly appreciated! Thanks for your support!
