Biometrics Lab

About the UNI Department of Psychology

Our goal in the Department of Psychology is to provide students access to a first-rate education in psychological science. In 2013, the department moved from Baker Hall, since torn down, to the newly renovated Bartlett Hall. The move provided our students and faculty with a dedicated computer lab, conference rooms, open collaboration spaces, and more functional laboratory spaces. Our goal with this campaign is to outfit a lab space with equipment to measure physiological responses and link them to emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.

Why Give to Outfit a Biometrics Lab

The field of psychology has evolved in recent decades to focus more heavily on the links between body, brain, and the mind. For example, how do our automatic reactions, which we are not even aware of, affect our interactions with a romantic partner or child? Do immediate physiological reactions drive hiring preferences in employment interviews? Answering questions like these requires sophisticated laboratory equipment to monitor physiological responses, link them in time to the presentation of experimental materials, and record them in a computer file for data analysis. We call this biometrics.

Donate Today!

Your generous donation will allow us to purchase biometric equipment and will have a direct and immediate impact on educational quality for UNI psychology students. Donors of $100 or more will be recognized on a plaque inside the lab.
