The College of Education at the University of Northern Iowa has a reputation of preparing UNI students for success in teaching professions. To uphold this excellence, the College of Education is working to provide UNI students with opportunities to obtain Leader in Me certification. Through a two-day Leader in Me training, UNI students will learn to empower their future classrooms and become better candidates for teaching positions.
By contributing to this project, you can help add value to UNI students in that they will be trained professionally in valuable soft skills, which include leading and communicating. Leader in Me focuses on Stephen Coveys' 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. In elementary schools, implementation of Leader in Me is foundational with students identifying their gifts and talents. As students progress through school, they learn how to apply the 7 Habits and develop as leaders in their classroom and school. Educators with the Leader in Me certification actively empower their students to become engaged learners and responsible leaders.
Preparing future educators at UNI with this certification will impact their ability to empower future generations. By giving at this level, you can sponsor one UNI student to achieve certification and create a lasting impact in their future classrooms.
